Mrs Makin's 6th grade has been having a fun time learning about the Medieval times this week March 20-25th). They culminated with a fashion show featuring different Medieval styles, all of which were designed out of newspaper! Robin Hood, knights, lords and ladies all displayed their best.
What do Mom's, Muffin's and Math have in Common? Students! Mom's came to Art City Elementary School on Friday March 25, 2016, to eat muffins and do math with their students in the third-grade classes. The students showed their moms how they could do math while enjoying a muffin. Moms were wowed by the activities and games their children were engaged in. Teachers were also sitting with students and giving one on one attention and help. Thank you, moms for taking time out of your busy mornings to come and do math with us.
Mr. Warner of Art City was honored March 23, 2016 by the Area PTA for the outstanding service he gives to Art City Elementary school. Mrs. Kim Droubay and Miss Patti Parker wrote a poem in honor of his service.

On March 17th the Kindergarten at Art City Elementary School, had some mischievous visitors that left footprints on tables, messing up the room, and leaving a little pot of gold; students even created their own "leprechaun" disguises.
Have you ever wondered how a yearbook cover is created? At Art City Elementary, students are invited to submit pictures of what they think the cover should look like; a jury of judges look at all of the pictures and decides what picture should be used. This year all of the pictures that were submitted were on display in the gym during the "Great Artist" gallery display. Thank you students for caring for the school and wanting to help create the year book.
Art City Elementary students have been busy all year learning about different artists and art techniques. Each student chose their favorite piece of art and it was displayed in the Gym during the family night of the Book Fair March 14-17th. Students who visited the "Art Gallery" created chalk pictures, played games, and had photo opportunity to be the Mona Lisa. Thank you parents and PTA for all of your help in putting on such a magnificent gallery.
Art City Elementary school's Chess Club had the opportunity to compete in the State Chess Tournament that was held at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday, March 13, 2016. Students have been working hard, competing on the school and District level since October. Students are taught on their level of skill and progress through harder lessons as the year progresses, getting them ready for tournaments. The 6th grade had quite a surprise this week when Matt Meese of Studio C came to talk with them. He answered qestions about the show, favorite characters, how they come up with skits and other things. By the way, his favorite characters to play are "Scott Sterling" and "The Shoulder Angel". Matt does not usually talk to schools, but we were lucky enough to have his friend, Sabrina Fullmer, as a practicum student in Mrs. Makin's class. He came to us as a friendly favor for her. THANKS MISS FULLMER!!!!!
The students have been working hard throughout the year learning about many artists and the differenant techniques and mediums they used; from water colors, chalk, charcoal and crayons.
