“Blast into Reading” is this year's library theme. Each month a few Faculty and staff members will be highlighted as they looked back in elementary school with their favorite book. October has been the second grade team, Mrs Roylance, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Behling. The second grade also voted on which book is their favorite.
Art City Elementary 4th Grade students enjoyed a day at This Is the Place State Park. They tried panning for gold, pushing and pulling handcarts, riding a train, learning about blacksmithing, visiting Native American homes and going to school in the 1800s. Everyone had a great time!

We love celebrating Halloween at school. This year we will celebrate on Friday, Oct. 29. Students may dress up, but Halloween masks and weapons (real or fake) are not permitted at school. We will have a school parade beginning at 2:00.
The week of October 25-29 will be a fun one at Art City!! We will be having a Safety Olympic Week with fun activities and dress up days all week long! Students here at Art City have the opportunity to nominate their peers who they have observed demonstrating Stand Strong behaviors. Miss Peery taught Art City's 5th-grade classes how to draw like Tim Burton. They learned about Tim Burton’s unique influence on art and movies. They also learned how to shade and highlight their work. They did an amazing job following directions and making the 5th grade hallway extra spooky.
On September 11, Art City Elementary students gathered around the flagpole to commemorate Patriots Day with a flag ceremony and to sing the "Star Spangled Banner".
Waterford-Upstart is a school-readiness program that teaches preschool-aged children basic skills they need in reading, math and science. Please see the following flyer for more information.
