Art City students spelled out "Reflections" as a reminder that this week, October 3, is the last day to turn in their Reflections entries. Information can be picked up from a desk in front of the office. The theme this year is "The World Would Be a Better Place If . . . "
The purpose of Reflections is to have fun exploring art. You can do something you've never tried before or something you've done a lot. Just have fun with it.
On September 11, 2014 The United Way and US Synthetics came to Art City Elementary school in Springville Utah to read to the first and second-grade classes, read and figure out math with the third-grade; and learn how to be problem solvers in the fifth and sixth-grade classes.
In the sixth-grade students were taught problem solving using a plan, do, check and act analogy. They talked about how it is okay to fail and to start over and try again. They made hypothesis to help solve a problem and to figure out a plan to do it better next time.

It is a tradition at Art City Elementary for the 5th grade to have a "State float parade" at the end of the year to culminate their knowledge of all the states and the capitols. Two students are assigned a state and they create a poster and a float that depicts characteristics from that state it is then carried and pulled through the halls for the students of all grades to see. Thank you 5th grade for sharing with everyone.
What do silly mustaches, colorful hair, disappearing ink, and squeals of delight have in common? A Carnival! Art City Elementary PTA held it's annual Carnival to celebrate it's students. Students and families had fun jumping, running, eating, giggling, chasing, hanging out with friends and relaxing. Thank you Art City PTA for all you do for the students at Art City Elementary.
Art City Sixth-grade presented a program to students and parents on Thursday May 22, 2014. "Let's go on an adventure!" Austin said to his friends. They find reasons not to go, but Austin is determined to go out and "see the world". As he journey's, he sees and experiences good and bad things, kind people, and a few "ruffians". The students portrayed, through song and dance, many things Austin experienced. A few things they sang about were Defying Gravity, being Alone in the Universe and How Lucy You Are. Mrs.
BYU Kinnect Dancers visited Art City Elementary on Friday May 16, 2014, and presented a program about Heros. Kinnect is a student outreach performance dance company with a specific focus on developing teaching, creative, and performing skills in its members. This group is carefully selected, prepared, and mentored in order to effectively teach dance as a creative process to elementary- and middle-school-age children, following the U.S. National Dance Standards and the Utah State Dance Core Curriculum.
All of the students that had earned a black belt in Mrs. Lisa Gervais music class at Art City Elementary were invited to participate in playing in front of the school on May 14, 2014. Mrs. Gervais the Music teacher, uses the program "Recorder Karate by Barb Philipak".
