Arbor Day poster contest

Art City Elementary Students participate each year in the Arbor Day poster contest.   The winning poster from each grade level goes to the state Arbor Day Poster Contest.  Because of our participation our school received a certificate to receive a free tree to plant on our school grounds.  Honorable mentions go to (pictured back row) Kolby Carter, 4th grade; Savannah Simmons, 6th grade; Emily Clisbee, 3rd grade;  (front row) Lilly Holladay, 1st grade, Nicolas Crockston, 5th grade; and not pictured Sean O’Donnell and Matthew Sanders, Kindergarten.   Arbor D

Art City 5th Grade Program

On April 7, 2011, the fifth grade classes at Art City Elementary, shared with the school and parents a few of the things they have learned this school year.  They started the program with “I don’t Want to Go to School”.  In Ms. Dorrie Fisher’s class they learned about Heredity and sang “We are Family” and Matter and sang “Firework”.  In Miss Molly Haslam’s class they learned about Electricity and Magnets and sang “Stuck like Glue” (like magnets stick together).  In Ms.

March Healthy Lifestyles Challenge Winners

Art City Elementary School gives students Healthy Lifestyle challenges throughout the year.  In March the students were challenged to not drink sugared drinks for five days a week (20 days total) there were many students who took the challenge and turned in their hours.  After the totals are added up each grade puts names into a hat for a drawing to win sports equipment.  Our March winners (awarded in April after the challenge is complete) are as follows:  Front Row:  Strider Leatham 1st grade, Sophie Belnap 1st grade, Jacob Sanders 2nd grade, and Sarah Sokolowski 3

KSL and Zion's Bank Teacher Feature of the Week--Alisa Morgan

Alisa Morgan, Kindergarten teacher at Art City elementary school received the KSL Radio and Zions Bank Teacher Feature for the week award.  Brandy Dial a mother of a kindergarten student nominated Mrs. Morgan for being a very patient and wonderful teacher, saying that she helped her daughter during a time when she needed a lot of TLC.  Thank you Mrs. Morgan for all that you do for students and being a wonderful teacher.   Mrs.

On the Radio at Art City Elementary School

Welcome to K Y D Z, the radio station that plays the hits while you sing along!  Meet disc jockey Marvelous Mike (played by Ben Leishman,) and side kick Jivin’ Judy (played by Rebecca Hammond)  as they play the oldies, the goodies and all the songs kids have loved throughout the years.  From the Depression and WWII to Elvis, the Beatles and disco, the radio is where America hears the songs  that become the soundtracks of their lives.

5th Place at State Chess Tournament goes to Art City Elementary

On Saturday, March 19, 2011, Art City Elementary joined 82 other Elementary Schools, 12 students represented Art City competing with approximately 300 plus elementary school students in the Utah State Elementary Chess Tournament held at the University of Utah campus. They competed against the best and the brightest across the state and did extremely well. Those who participated were:

St. Patrick's Day Fun

Oh those little Leprecauns were busy little Folk around Art City Elementary on March 17th. They disrupted desks, chairs and wrote mischievious notes, not to mention their little feet tracks left all over. St. Patricks' Day is always a fun day to be seen in green. Many students were sporting green from head to toe. We hope we have collected enough good luck to last us the year.

Art City Third Grade Presents "Musicals through Time"

Art City Elementary (Springville) School’s Third Grade classes celebrated on March 10, 2011, by traveling through time exploring musicals through the years that help express feelings of love, desire and expectations. Some songs included “If I only Had a Brain”, “Oklahoma”, “Seventy-Six Trombones”, Put on a Happy Face” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Good job third grade.
