Art City Elementary school sixth-grade students study ancient civilizations some favorites include Egyptian sarcophagus' and Medieval times. To help students have hands on experiences with Medieval times Mrs. Makin's class had the opportunity to use Play dough. "Play dough in 6th grade?! You bet, if it's for making a Medieval kingdom." Mrs. Makin said, "The students really get their hands into their work."
There are over 60 million refugees in the world today with many needs, Mrs Makin's 6th-grade class would like to invite you to help "make a difference". Art City Elementary is collecting supplies for hygiene kits now through April 29th. The items needed are as follows: soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hair brushes and combs, razors, shaving cream, hand towels, wash clothes, and chapstick.
Please help us pay tribute to some very special teachers who are retiring this Spring. We appreciate the incredible contribution they each have made to Art City and they will be missed very much.
Please note: The time is from 3-5.
The Art City Elementary School Third-grade sang songs about how to help us how to reduce, reuse and recycle. The students wore earth toned colores, blue, green and brown, they danced and sang and shared how to take care of our earth and each other. Earth Day is and why we celebrate. Earth Day is a day we celebrate the Earth and discuss ways we can make it better by reducing, reusing and recycling.
Art City Elementary students in the fourth and fifth-grades take a keyboarding class that teaches them correct position and strokes to be the best keyboarding students. This year Nebo School District challenged students to compete in a "Keyboarding Championship". Those selected to compete showed that they had "developed remarkable keyboarding skills that will continue to grow as students keyboard correctly". Congratulations to the following students for being selected from Art City Elementary School. (Not in any particular order).
