Excellence in Service Award to Our Lunch Ladies

Art City Elementary school PTA awarded the lunch ladies, Kim Crews, Sue Olsen, Valerie Talbot, and Candy Daniels, with the “Excellence in Service Award” on February 16, 2011.   Students shared thoughts about the lunch ladies, “I love our lunch ladies because they prepare the best food.” “I love the fresh fruits and vegetables they cut up for us every day.” “Our lunch ladies are always kind and friendly, they smile even when someone drops their lunch tray or spills milk.” “Our lunch ladies are the best because they care about us and the things we eat.”  “The lunch ladies never forget our nam

Art City School celebrates 100 days of school

Art City Elementary, Springville, celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday, February 4, 2011. Students at Art City celebrated the 100th day of school by playing games and making creative art projects. Mrs. Sutton’s second grade class made paper glasses that looked like 100. In Mrs. Chatterly’s first grade class, she read a book called “100 Ways to Get to 100”. Mrs. Luther’s first grade class did 100 types of exercises. Mrs. Orme’s third grade class used their 100 chart to count their cereal. What a fun way to celebrate 100 days of school. Yeah we only have 77 more days of school!!

Nursery Rhymes from Mrs. Morgan's Kindergarten

Mrs. Morgan’s Kindergarten class, Art City Elementary, Springville, shared nursery rhymes with students and parents on Wednesday, February 02, 2011.  Each student shared their favorite rhyme, there were Humpty Dumpty’s, Bo Peep who Lost her sheep, Jack and Jill, and to finish up students acted out “The  Queen of Hearts” rhyme:

“The Queen of Hearts, She made some tarts All on a summer's day.

The Knave of Hearts, He stole the tarts And took them clean away.

The King of Hearts, Called for the tarts And beat the Knave full sore.

Second grade celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.

On Wednesday, January 26, 2011 the second grade at Art City Elementary, Springville, celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. by singing uplifting songs and quoting great leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. about keeping the peace and the freedoms we enjoy living here in the United States. Students drew the pictures of Martin Luther King Jr. that were displayed around the room. Parents were invited to attend the assembly and the evening program Thursday. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone.

5th Grade radKIDS Simulation

Zac Dalley from Art City Elementary school, Springville, on Monday January 31, 2011, is confronted with a ‘Bad Person’ “Stay Back you’re not my dad” Zac said, just as Mr. Dean Larsen, Utah County Deputy, wrapped him up to see if he could get away. Using the techniques and the knowledge he has learned from their radKIDS class Zac was able to get away. Thank you Mr. Larsen; the Utah County Sherriff’s Department for your help and support with simulation; thank you PTA and Mrs. Nielsen, principal, for having this program in the school.

Mr. Brown can moo can you? Art City Elementary School, Springville, celebrated their favorite characters on Friday, January 28th. The students carried their books and marched through classrooms and through the office to share who their favorite characters are.

Art City's Annual Spelling Bee

Art City Elementary, in Springville, held their annual Spelling Bee Tuesday January 25, 2011. 47 students participated in this years Spelling Bee. Taylor Moeaki took first place and will be advancing to the District Spelling Bee. Chloe Wilson placed second Emily Mason placed third place. Thank you for everyone who participated.
