The 3rd grade classes, from Art City Elementary school, went to Macey’s grocery store. They learned how to eat healthy foods. Their favorite part was when they tried Kiwi and when we made a tree with broccoli, carrots and tomatoes.

RRRR! Mrs. Robin Wheatley's 1st grade "pirate" class

RRRR! Mrs. Robin Wheatley's 1st grade "pirate" class was roaming the halls at Art City Elementary looking for pictures and words that had the letter rrr in them. "RRR, do mine eyes see a picture with the letter r in it? Aye, yes, the word is barrrn!"

Going on an inside field trip to help Mrs.Wheatley's transitional First Grade class, Mrs. Wheatley is able to reveiw the "r" sound and find the letter "r" in many words.

Oh the countries we see. . . Sixth grade students from Art City Elementary School had the opportunity to go to BYU to learn about countries. BYU had displayed many interesting facts, performed dances and played instruments. There were handouts at each display for the 6th grade students. It was a great experience and amazing. BYU did a really good job to make it fun for the students.

100th Day of School

The Students at Art City Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday January 29th, 2010. The First Grade classes were visited by Zero Hero he delivered cookies to make the number 100. The students counted by 2s, 5s, and 25s to get to 100. First grade classes were reading 100 books. We saw classes making glasses in the shape of 100 and there were 100 treats, (100 goldfish crackers), birthday cakes with the number 100, 100 licks on a lollipop, 100 seconds with our eyes closed, and Mrs. Debbie Hadlock’s 4th grade class pretended to have $100 dollars to spend on books.

It Pays to Read! Art City Elementary celebrated reading on Friday, January 22, 2010 with an assembly that pays the students for reading. We want to thank WW Clyde for their generous donation to make the “It Pays to Read” assembly possible. We had a special guest “Chief”, from the Ken Garff Road to Success Program, help the students as well. Each month students read and turn in a slip for every 100 minutes they read. If their name is drawn they are invited to choose four teachers to help shoot baskets.
