Art City's first grade has been learning about Ancient Mesopotamia's farming, cities, writing, leaders, and religion. As part of this unit first graders had the opportunity to make a clay tablet and write their name on it in cuneiform.

Art City Elementary fourth grade were treated to a fun and informative field trip at the Springville Power Department. They learned electrical safety. They were amazed at the size of the electrical generators that run our city and then were able to do some hands on electricity experiments. A big thanks to Springville City!
Art City Fourth Grade visited Gordo’s Fun Farm. They learned about growing pumpkins, saw the animals, rode in the train, and played in so much corn! Thank you to Gordo’s for hosting our field trip!
Each month Mr. Cornwall will celebrate teachers and staff who are going above and beyond what is expected of them at Art City Elementary. September Staff Members of the Month are our newbies to Art City: Sarah LeMonte, Emily Blaisdell, Stacie Mason, and Lyndsie Jordan.
Each month Art City teachers select two students from their class who have demonstrated Stand Strong behaviors. Stand Strong Students of the Month are outstanding examples of positive character traits and have shown that they are safe, respectful, and responsible. Way to go to our September Stand Strong Students!!
Teachers and staff at Art City have nominated students for our Top Eagle award! Each month, one student from each grade level will be recognized for going above and beyond during our Stand Strong assembly. They received a prize and certificate. A sign will also be put in the student's yard. Good job Eagles!
BYU science students came to visit the fourth grade students to share "science" with them. The scientists shared chemical and physical reactions. Thanks BYU!

In remembrance of the 9-11 tragedy Art City Elementary had a flag ceremony in front of the school. Some classes may create artwork or have discussions in class to commemorate that day.
We have an incredibly rare opportunity to participate in the 9/11 Remembrance Event being held at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. This is not just for students, it is for all our families. Please take some time today , Thursday, September 11th through Saturday, September 13th from 9 am to 9 pm to attend this wonderful event. We are so grateful to the Major Brent Taylor Foundation for putting on this event and helping us to "REMEMBER".
Art City fourth grade students made graham cracker maps of Utah showing the Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City, Springville, the mountains, and the major freeways. It was a fun activity for everyone!
Springville High School will have a Homecoming Light Parade on September 11th at 7:30 pm. It will start at 840 S 400 E and end at 1205 E 900 S. All are invited to come watch!
Picture Day at Art City will take place on October 7th. We will be doing classic class pictures again instead of composite class pictures so plan to be here that day!
Art City students came together in two sessions to review and to learn what is expected behavior at school. They reviewed how to Stand Strong be being Safe, Respectful and Responsible. They even had the opportunity to learn and review the Stand Strong dance.
