Bee a Reader

Mrs. Lindsey, the Librarian, and Mrs. Droubay, at Art City Elementary school have dedicated a corner outside the library to "Bee a Reader" they are encouraging students and teachers to "Bee Readers". Teachers and students are good "Bee's" and reading books.

Art City Second-Grade Students Travel the World

Art City Elementary second-grade students learn about different countries throughout the world as part of their core education.  The teachers at Art City have each student do a report on a country that they may have some previous knowledge of or a country they would like to learn about.  The students learn about the culture, the landscape, the industry, and especially the traditional clothing.  With this knowledge they present to their various class mates.  They have a paper doll that they color and dress.

Rich Wieber Wows and Amazes Students and Teachers

Rich Wieber's Bicycle stunt show visited Art City Elementary on January 17, 2014 for a school assembly program.  This program touches on these themes:• Determination • Goal Setting/Achievement • Dangers of Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco  • Peer Pressure • Bullying • Perseverance • Bicycle Safety. The students and teachers were so mesmerized by the stunts Rich and his team were doing that they would forget to cheer.

The NED show presented at Art City Elementary School

    On December 13, 2013 Art City Elementary had a NED show assembly.  "This school-wide performance tells the story of NED, a lovable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. It’s a simple, memorable message designed to teach valuable lessons that help kids become champions at school and in life".

Sixth-grade Sarcophagus's

The sixth-grade students always study a unit of Ancient Egypt during their social studies. Students get to create a Sarcophagus (It is a box-like funeral receptacle for a corpse, most commonly carved in stone, and displayed above ground, though they may be buried). The students at Art City create their sarcophagus to represent who they are and what they like to do.

Fourth-grade Begins Typing Exercises

The fourth-grade begins typing exercises with Mrs. Jacobson, district typing specialist. Mrs. Jacobson works well with her students. She has introduced us to Typing Pal, a link on Art City's website. She is very good at helping us learn to use the keys. I am in Fourth-grade, and I think she's awesome. "She's a great teacher." said fourth-grade student Spencer Neel. We have learned a lot from her and are glad she came to Art City. "She's nice." said fourth-grade student Josh Harker. She's a great teacher" agreed Bella Farr and Kara Lamoreaux.

Celebrating The First Thanksgiving in Kindergarten

Thursday and Friday, November 21 and 22, 2013, the Kindergarten, at Art City Elementary school, in Springville, were dressed as Pilgrims and Indians in remembrance of the first Thanksgiving.  The students had opportunities to be a pilgrim and make butter for bread, washed clothes on a wash board, sewed on a button to make a pocket and played old fashioned games, the next day they were Indians they popped popcorn, ground corn, made a pot with clay, read stories in a teepee, made “beaded” necklaces using pasta, banged on dr
