Fourth Grade Dinosaur Museum

Hello, this is Art City Elementary reporter Emmelia Cieslewicz with my little brother Ephraim, here to report for the fourth grade dinosaur museum held on Friday,October 1, 2010. The Fourth grade classes made dinosaur projects and presented them to show what had been learned for the past month. All of the classes came to see the "Dinosaur Museum" as well as parents. A lot of people learned about dinosaurs and had tons of fun. Bye!

First Grade goes to Hee Haw Farms

The first graders at Art City had a great time at Hee Haw Farms this week. Students learned about plants as they traveled through the corn maze and picked their own pumpkins. They learned about animals, corn and sunflowers. A good time was had by all. Pictured are: Jacob Martinez, Christine Bloodgood Audrey Hawkins, Austin Mertz and Noah Moeaki

Fall Book Fair October 2010

Calling heroes everywhere! Art City Elementary School in Springville, is celebrating the heroes in our lives at the scholastic Book Fair October 25-28. We can find heroes in our community, school and our favorite books. Help us give a shout out to super heroes and super books during our week long celebration! The book fair will be open during school hours, a family night Tuesday 5-6:30p.m. with a bonus late night (8p.m.) Thursday October 28th.

Art City Student Council

  • The Student Council at Art City Elementary, Springville, has been chosen. The adult leaders are Teresa Winkler, School Counselor and Natalie Perkins 6th grade teacher, the council members are starting at the top left; Natalie Sumsion, Historian; Savannah Simmons, Vice President; Camille Ostler, Sammy Gutierrez, President; Trysta Moala Secretary; Elizabeth Brimhall, Lizibith Summerhalder, Emily Mason, Rebecca Hammond, Garrett Huffaker, Brady Dolan, and Max Riche.

Superintendent Rick Nielsen Visits Art City Elementary

Art City Elementary, in Springville, welcomed Superintendent Rick Nielsen, on October 8, 2010. Mr. Nielsen sat down with a second grade student, McKayla Richins, and worked on a pattern McKayla had started. The teachers at Art City are excited that Mr. Nielsen is the Superintendent, as he was their principal eight years ago.

Art City Kindergarten learning about the Community

Mrs. Barbara Miner’s and Mrs.Alisa Morgan’s kindergarten classes at Art City Elementary enjoyed visits from Springville’s own Officer Owen Leatham and firefighter Ben Schofield as students celebrated community helpers. Students learned about a policeman’s job and a firefighter’s job and got to see the tools used for each. Students were especially happy to see a police car and a fire truck!

Kindergarten goes to Pumkin Land

Art City Elementary’s kindergarten classes enjoyed a day at Pumpkin Land at Vineyard Garden Center in Orem. Students navigated their way out of a corn maze, saw farm animals, and learned about the fall season and harvest.

Wanted Readers! For Reading at Art City Elementary. The librian, DeAnna Lindsey, is always on the lookout to catch students reading. When students are spotted with a book their picture is taken and hung up in the wanted readers corner. Readers caught recently are: Principal Mrs. Lori Nielsen, 5th Grade Chris Ohman, 2nd Grade Andrew Wilding, 3rd Grade Kelby Jeppson, and 4th Grade Jaiden Fisher.
