The students in Mrs. Makin's class really tore things apart! They dissected owl pellets and discovered the not so happy endings to some birds and rodents. They had gross fun picking through the pellets to find bones, teeth and other things.  One group found an ankle band from a not so lucky bird! Through research they found that it belonged to a racing pigeon that was on its way to Cedar City. Obviously, that bird did not win the race!

So when you finish your degree and walk out of College that last day, do you ever think you will have to go to another class again?  If you are in the Education field you are always learning and having opportunities to compete.  Art City Elementary School Sixth-grade teachers did just that; they had an opportunity to attend a conference and show off their Engineering skills.  Mr. Gibson, Miss Shumway and Mrs. Bird won the engineering contest at their science training by building the highest tower. Way to go teachers! Rock stars among us!

The Orchestra and the students who have earned the recorder Black Belts had the opportunity to perform May 2, 2017.  Great job everyone!!

The Transitional Kindergarten had their Spring program they sang fun songs and recited rhymes they have been working on.  It is hard to believe the school year is almost over.  

The fifth and sixth-grade students in Springville, Utah, have had the opportunity to go to the Springville, City sponsored track meets. It was a little cold and rainy for the sixth-grade, luckily it did not rain until the awards ceremony.  Fifth-grade had a little better weather although it was still cold.

As part of the experience of going to the Hutchings Museum in Lehi, Utah, the students were locked in the county jail!

Mrs. Larsen and Mrs. Luther's third-grade classes had a special visitor come, they had Springville Officers come, after reading a story in our Journey's book that talked about service dogs, Areo and Officer Mike demonstrated how they can find things that do not belong in a school or other building.

Mrs. Karen Burton's Transitional Kindergarten class love to sing the National Anthem.  They went to the office to sing for Mrs. Muirbrook. (Please go to the Facebook page, on the right side under "Visitor Posts" and click on the camera icon). 

On Thursday April 13, Art City second-grade students had the opportunity to go to Harward Farms.  They learned how plants grow, how they take care of animals and they even had the opportunity to see some baby pigs. 

On Thursday April 25, 2017 the First Grade walked to the Springville City library. They learned about how the library works day to day, how to get a library card, how to return books, and all about their summer reading program!  It was a great day!!
