Samba Fogo Visits Art City Elementary
The Samba Fogo visited Art City Elementary on December 7, 2023. Samba Fogo is a Cultural Arts Organization inspired many years ago by the excitement and beauty of Brazilian music and dance. This was made possible by support from the Artistic Resource for Teachers and Students Organization. Students had fun learning about this Brazilian form of dance and drumming.

Art CityElementary 1st Annual Turkey Strut
Mr Cornwall introduced a new tradition during Thanksgiving week, A turkey strut contest! Students who wanted to “strut” their stuff competed in their classroom. One student from each class, 1st through 5th grade, moved on to compete in front of the entire student body. Six high school students were asked to judge the students on their strutting abilities.
Students roared with laughter and cheers when the teachers shared their turkey talents. “It’s for the children”! Good job everyone!!
Native American Heritage at Art City Elementary
In honor of Native American heritage month, Title VI teacher, Mrs. Begay shared some of their culture. The students saw how they would swaddle a baby and sing a lullaby. Students also watched the grass dance, butterfly dance, earth dance, jingle dance, and super exciting hoop dancing! The three youngest dancers all attend Art City.
