Rich Wieber's Bicycle stunt show visited Art City Elementary on January 17, 2014 for a school assembly program. This program touches on these themes:• Determination • Goal Setting/Achievement • Dangers of Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco • Peer Pressure • Bullying • Perseverance • Bicycle Safety. The students and teachers were so mesmerized by the stunts Rich and his team were doing that they would forget to cheer.
On December 13, 2013 Art City Elementary had a NED show assembly. "This school-wide performance tells the story of NED, a lovable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. It’s a simple, memorable message designed to teach valuable lessons that help kids become champions at school and in life".
On December 18, 2013, Art City's fourth-grade performed for the school. On the 19th they went to the University Mall in Orem. This is one assembly everyone looks forward to every year because the songs help you feel good and enjoy the season.
The sixth-grade students always study a unit of Ancient Egypt during their social studies. Students get to create a Sarcophagus (It is a box-like funeral receptacle for a corpse, most commonly carved in stone, and displayed above ground, though they may be buried). The students at Art City create their sarcophagus to represent who they are and what they like to do.
The fourth-grade begins typing exercises with Mrs. Jacobson, district typing specialist. Mrs. Jacobson works well with her students. She has introduced us to Typing Pal, a link on Art City's website. She is very good at helping us learn to use the keys. I am in Fourth-grade, and I think she's awesome. "She's a great teacher." said fourth-grade student Spencer Neel. We have learned a lot from her and are glad she came to Art City. "She's nice." said fourth-grade student Josh Harker. She's a great teacher" agreed Bella Farr and Kara Lamoreaux.
Thursday and Friday, November 21 and 22, 2013, the Kindergarten, at Art City Elementary school, in Springville, were dressed as Pilgrims and Indians in remembrance of the first Thanksgiving. The students had opportunities to be a pilgrim and make butter for bread, washed clothes on a wash board, sewed on a button to make a pocket and played old fashioned games, the next day they were Indians they popped popcorn, ground corn, made a pot with clay, read stories in a teepee, made “beaded” necklaces using pasta, banged on dr
October 4th, 2013, Art City Elementary School held their annual Walk-a-thon the totals are as follows: Laps 11,909. Miles walked: 1,490. Money total $9400. Our highest money earner was Joey Hammond $302.60. Most laps ran Jacob Gee 45 laps. Our Sponsors included the following: Seven Peaks, Hang Time Air, Jump-On- It, Springville Pool, Cinemark Theater, Water Garden Theater, Lowe's Extreme Air.
Art City Elementary, in Springville, on Friday, November 15, 2013, third-grade students invited their dads, uncles, grandpas, and friends to come eat a donut and read a book. Miss McKell Murdock, third-grade teacher, invited her dad he too read with students. There was a good turn out of “Dad’s” for the donuts. For the students whose dad couldn't come they shared a dad or took turns reading with another student. The dads stayed for about 20 minutes and
