On Tuesday October 11, 2011 Kindergarten classes, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Miner, and Mr. Waadt, had the opportunity to go on a field trip to Pumpkin Land at Vineyard Garden Center in Orem.  The Kindergarten classes have been learning about the four seasons and Fall.  Students made their way through a corn maz, visited with various animals, played on a playground including a giant pumpkin slide, made their way through the light alley, and picked out a pumpkin to take home.  It was a great way to celebrate the fall season.

Art City Elementary School Principal Lori Nielsen had the opportunity to "Sumo" wrestle third-grade teacher Ms. Patti Parker on Friday, October 6, 2011.  Ms. Parker's class had the highest classroom total for the school walk-a-thon fundraiser.  The students raised just over $14,000 dollars for new school technology and the PTA. 

Art City Elementary School, Springville, held their Annual Fourth-grade Dinosaur Museum on Friday September 30, 2011 . The museum is an opportunity for students to share what they have learned about the Fourth-grade science core of fossils and where they are found, (sedementory rock). Students used computers and the library to do some of their research about the extinction of dinosaurs and other prehistoric organisms. Students made blankets, pillows, dioramas, posters, there were a few fossil digs as well as 3-D displays.

Art City Elementary School held their first Walkathon fund raiser on Friday, September 23, 2011.  Most everyone in the school participated from Kindergarten to 6th grade.  Even though it was called a “Walkathon” many of the students jogged the whole hour, in doing so they racked up a lot of laps, a few of the Sixth grade students said they did between 36 and 40 laps.  The results of the pledges from the students walking/running are coming in.  Monday’s total is $10,604.  We can’t wait to see what the end results will be.  The teacher of the class with the highest total brought in will “Sumo

Art City Elementary Students participate each year in the Arbor Day poster contest.   The winning poster from each grade level goes to the state Arbor Day Poster Contest.  Because of our participation our school received a certificate to receive a free tree to plant on our school grounds.  Honorable mentions go to (pictured back row) Kolby Carter, 4th grade; Savannah Simmons, 6th grade; Emily Clisbee, 3rd grade;  (front row) Lilly Holladay, 1st grade, Nicolas Crockston, 5th grade; and not pictured Sean O’Donnell and Matthew Sanders, Kindergarten.   Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated obser

On April 7, 2011, the fifth grade classes at Art City Elementary, shared with the school and parents a few of the things they have learned this school year.  They started the program with “I don’t Want to Go to School”.  In Ms. Dorrie Fisher’s class they learned about Heredity and sang “We are Family” and Matter and sang “Firework”.  In Miss Molly Haslam’s class they learned about Electricity and Magnets and sang “Stuck like Glue” (like magnets stick together).  In Ms.

Art City Elementary School gives students Healthy Lifestyle challenges throughout the year.  In March the students were challenged to not drink sugared drinks for five days a week (20 days total) there were many students who took the challenge and turned in their hours.  After the totals are added up each grade puts names into a hat for a drawing to win sports equipment.  Our March winners (awarded in April after the challenge is complete) are as follows:  Front Row:  Strider Leatham 1st grade, Sophie Belnap 1st grade, Jacob Sanders 2nd grade, and Sarah Sokolowski 3rd grade.

Alisa Morgan, Kindergarten teacher at Art City elementary school received the KSL Radio and Zions Bank Teacher Feature for the week award.  Brandy Dial a mother of a kindergarten student nominated Mrs. Morgan for being a very patient and wonderful teacher, saying that she helped her daughter during a time when she needed a lot of TLC.  Thank you Mrs. Morgan for all that you do for students and being a wonderful teacher.   Mrs.
