Springville Jr. High Choir Visits Art City Elementary School

On December 20, 2016, the Springville Jr. High school Choir came to Art City Elementary School. The Choir sang Christmas songs and their traditional song “Bum-bitti-bum.” The Jr. High students led the elementary students  in a “Christmas Round” “Chop-Chop, shovel-shovel” the students really love this participation song. It was very exciting to watch the Jr. High School choir sing. The students look forward to the choir coming every year, thank you Springville Junior High school Choir.

Art City School Choir

Art City Elementary school choir met after school from September to December getting ready for their opportunity to put on a concert for the school as well as their parents.  Mrs. Langton and Mrs. Bolke both volunteer moms, worked with the students two days a week to help the students get ready.  The students learned a variety of Christmas songs and had a lot of fun.  Thank you everyone for all of your help.  

Art City Spelling Bee

Art City Elementary School Spelling Bee was held on Friday December 10, 2016, there were approximately 37 students participate in the spelling bee.  All students who were interested in participating in the spelling bee had the opportunity to have a mini "bee" in their classrooms, then if they were the top five they were able to move onto the school "bee"; students where given lists in to study and prepare.  Katie Durfey placed first, Travis Gervais second place and Sopie Hunt third place.

The Prevailing Winds Quintet Visits Art City Elementary School

Art City Elementary school, Springville, Utah, had the privilege of having “The Prevailing Winds” Woodwind quintet share their talents and the purpose of wind instruments.   The following were the artists and their instruments of choice that came to the school:  Flutist - Jeannine Goeckeritz, Oboist - Bonnie Schroeder, Hornist - Anita Miller, Bassoonist - Luke Pfeil, And Clarinetist - Scott Harris.  It was quite entertaining and the students really enjoyed it. “The Prevailing Winds have traveled throughout Utah performing for schools as part of ARTS Inc.

Third-Grade Dads and Donuts

Art City Elementary, in Springville, on Friday, December 3, 2016, third-grade students invited their dads, uncles, grandpas, and friends to come eat a donut and read a book.  There was a good turn out of “Dad’s” for the donuts.  For the students whose dad couldn't come they shared a dad or took turns reading with another student and even a brother.  The dads stayed for about 20 minutes and seemed to really enjoy this time with their students.  Thank you Dads for sharing your time with us. 

Art City Elementary Reflections 2016

There were many participants in this year's Reflections and at this time we would like to announce the winners in each category. Awards of Excellence:  Katie Durfey, Aruelia Olsen, Joseph Rasmussen, Mille Claybaugh, Kelsie Nielson, and Morgan Nielson.  Awards of Merit:  Caroline Penrod, Camryn Depew, Levi Fox, Celeste Jenkins, Skylar Marshall, Lili Kew, and Camrie Snapp.  Honorable Mention:  Molly Jessop, Levi Olsen, and Anders Rasmussen.

Student Council Learn How to Be Leaders

The Student Council members took a day to charge up their powers and and learn how to dedicate their time to serve.  With the Counselor Mrs. Kober, to light the way, they converged on BYU for an inspiring day on leadership.  They returned to Art City Elementary on a quest to show the student body how to unite so all students learn to serve and be kind to others.

Write and Send Letters to Santa

Maceys department store is sponsoring "Letters to Santa". For every letter written, Maceys will donate one dollar to the Make-a-wish foundation.  Art City Elementary school has a goal to have 500 letters written before December 8th.  So let's get writing!!
