What a Wonderful World in Transitional Kindergarten
The Transitional Kindergarten class worked hard to memorize songs and dances to put together a program, on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, celebrating the holidays.
Santa Visits Art City Elementary School
This year, on December 22, 2016, Santa came to visit all of the good girls and boys at Art City Elementary School. He spent time in each classroom passing out candy canes and wishing all of the students a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Singing Around the Tree
Art City Elementary school has a tradition to sing around the Christmas tree every year. This year they gathered in the gym, with the tree on the stage, and sang their hearts out as well as danced with a Just Dance "Crazy Santa" video. Even teachers were doing the "Crazy Santa". The students were really surprised when, who should walk through the door? Santa! Some may say that Mrs. Muirbrook was just as excited for this special visitor just to see the excitement on the students faces.
Allstate Has Made a Donation
On December 20, 2016, Rich Davis, who is employed by Allstate, made a very generous donation to Art City Elementary School, in Springville, Utah. Allstate works with their agents and gives awards grants to different causes. Rich chose Art City Elementary to receive the grant. This is very generous and kind, thank you Rich and Allstate. Some of the funds recieved will go toward a very needed laminator.
Springville Jr. High Choir Visits Art City Elementary School
On December 20, 2016, the Springville Jr. High school Choir came to Art City Elementary School. The Choir sang Christmas songs and their traditional song “Bum-bitti-bum.” The Jr. High students led the elementary students in a “Christmas Round” “Chop-Chop, shovel-shovel” the students really love this participation song. It was very exciting to watch the Jr. High School choir sing. The students look forward to the choir coming every year, thank you Springville Junior High school Choir.
Art City School Choir
Art City Elementary school choir met after school from September to December getting ready for their opportunity to put on a concert for the school as well as their parents. Mrs. Langton and Mrs. Bolke both volunteer moms, worked with the students two days a week to help the students get ready. The students learned a variety of Christmas songs and had a lot of fun. Thank you everyone for all of your help.
Belle Visits the Kindergarten and First-Grade
The Kindergarten afternoon classes and the First-grade classes had a special visitor come and visit in Mrs. Cheever's class. Belle came and read stories to the children and let them experience a little "live" imagination. Thank you Pattie Ireland for inviting Belle for a visit.
Art City Spelling Bee
Art City Elementary School Spelling Bee was held on Friday December 10, 2016, there were approximately 37 students participate in the spelling bee. All students who were interested in participating in the spelling bee had the opportunity to have a mini "bee" in their classrooms, then if they were the top five they were able to move onto the school "bee"; students where given lists in to study and prepare. Katie Durfey placed first, Travis Gervais second place and Sopie Hunt third place.
The Prevailing Winds Quintet Visits Art City Elementary School
Art City Elementary school, Springville, Utah, had the privilege of having “The Prevailing Winds” Woodwind quintet share their talents and the purpose of wind instruments. The following were the artists and their instruments of choice that came to the school: Flutist - Jeannine Goeckeritz, Oboist - Bonnie Schroeder, Hornist - Anita Miller, Bassoonist - Luke Pfeil, And Clarinetist - Scott Harris. It was quite entertaining and the students really enjoyed it. “The Prevailing Winds have traveled throughout Utah performing for schools as part of ARTS Inc.
