On October 8th, Art City teachers were seen wearing their "Nebo Hero" t-shirts, We even spotted Mrs. Muirbrook serving lunch in her shirt. Nebo School District Superintendent Rick Nielson knows what a hero is. He arranged to have every employee in the Nebo School District receive a "Nebo Hero" t-shirt and has requested that we wear them certain days of the month. On the front the shirt says, "Nebo Hero Nebo School District" and on the back it says, "Be your Best When it Matters Most". The acronym he uses for a HERO is as follows: H - Heroes Help people with no strings attached
Art City Lunch Ladies Rock!! Our lunch ladies had a lot of fun during National School Lunch week, October 9-13. They were almost as excited as the kids were to see the fire trucks and ambulance pull up on Wednesday and when the Payson police officer came on Thursday. Our lunch ladies are some of Art City's finest heroes. Thank you ladies for feeding us and making lunch fun.
What makes you want to SCREAM? This month students in Ms. Larsen's and Mrs. Luther's class at Art City Elementary wrote about what makes them want to scream. The students studied "The Scream" by Edvard Munch and used similar colors, lines and movement to create their own watercolor art. With a digital camera the students pictures were taken recreating that famous scream face. Their pictures were printed then cut out and glued onto their watercolor painting. Students then wrote about what makes them scream and published their writing in the school computer lab.
Hi my name is Madison McMullin. I graduated from Springville High and college from Brigham Young University. This is my second year teaching. I am so excited to be teaching Special Education. I was born in Provo and grew up in Springville. I am the youngest in my family. I have two older brothers and one sister-in-law. We are all currently living in Springville. It’s great. My favorite things to do outside of school include: running, golfing, boating, dancing, watching movies, spending time with my family, and traveling.
Art City Elementary fifth graders were treated to a fun and informative field trip at the Springville Power Department. They learned electrical saftey while they watched hotdogs, pickles and grapes get zapped. They were amazed at the size of the electrical generators that run our city and then were able to do some hands on electricity experiments. The Springville Power Department treated the students to cookies and lemonade before they departed. A big thanks to Springville City!
