On April 23, the Art City Orchestra joined hundreds of other sixth grade orchestra students in the Nebo School District to perform in the annual Monster Concert! The students performed 11 songs - everything from fiddle tunes to classical pieces to a rock song! They worked so hard to prepare for this performance, and they sounded fantastic!

May 1st is National School Principals' Day. The students and teachers at Art City Elementary had a great time honoring our wonderful principal with fun awards. Throughout the day, classes visited Mrs. Muirbrook's office to pay tribute to her and let her know how much she is appreicated at our school.
Mrs. Muirbrook is an outstanding principal and does a wonderful job reaching out to students, staff and parents. We want to thank her for her leadership, friendship and concern for the success of our students' education.
Next week is teacher appreciation week, April 29 - May 3. Please join us in thanking our teachers and staff for all they do for Art City Elementary. The students can dress up every day to show appreciation, they can write notes, draw pictures or simply tell them THANK YOU.
And thank you to our amazing PTA for all they do to make this week special for us!
Sixteen Art City students participated in this years Mapleton/Springville Math Tournament, hosted by Hobble Creek Elementary. The students participated in an individual event and a team event. Our 5th grade boys, Levi Olson, Joseph Henage, Jacob Rawle, Brock Lopes, and Daniel Anderson took 1st place in the team event. Way to go boys!
Art City first grade students had the opportunity to walk to the Springville Fire Department and Police Station. They learned some important information while they were there. Every family should have a meeting place in case of fire. Smoke is more harmful than the fire itself. In jail you have no privacy. Police sirens are VERY loud! Riding in a police car is very uncomfortable because the seats are hard. Thank you Springville City for teaching us some helpful things.
Art City Elementary Chess Club recently celebrated another successful chess season. This year we had 67 members in Chess Club ranging from students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Art City hosted the Art City Invitational, participated in the Nebo School District Chess tournament, and an open tournament at Freedom Prep Academy and placed 1st at all three tournaments. This year our own Art City volunteer chess coaches ran the State Chess Championship tournament at Freedom Prep where Art City placed 9th out of 90 schools. We would like to give a big thank you to all of the parent vol
