rt City Elementary School, on Wednesday January 25, 2017, celebrated Martin Luther King and Civil Rights with a Second-grade program. The songs that were sung included: "Ain't no Mountain High Enough," "Make them Hear You," Lean on Me," "We Got the power," "There can be Miracles." "This Little Light of mine" and "True Colors." The program focuses on those people who have made a difference in our world. It started around Martin Luther King then expanded to Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, and Jackie Robinson.
Art City Elementary School has been awarding students as Peace Keepers for the past 15 years. The students in each class vote for a person in their classroom who exibits qualities that make the school a better place. The second grade program focuses on people who have made a difference in our world.
Art City Elementary school has a tradition to sing around the Christmas tree every year. This year they gathered in the gym, with the tree on the stage, and sang their hearts out as well as danced with a Just Dance "Crazy Santa" video. Even teachers were doing the "Crazy Santa". The students were really surprised when, who should walk through the door? Santa! Some may say that Mrs. Muirbrook was just as excited for this special visitor just to see the excitement on the students faces.
