Getting Started with Sora

  1. Install the Sora app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store, or go to www.soraapp.com
  1. In Sora, find your school (or enter our set up code: nebout), then sign in.  You will also have the option to add additional libraries.  Utah’s Online Library is available as well as the Springville Library if you have a library card.
    1. To sign in use your email and password you use at school.
    2. If your student does not know their email or password you may contact the office. 
  1. Searching for a book:
    1. Click on the explore button at the bottom of the screen.
    2. In the top left corner, type in your search and hit enter.
    3. All books that meet your search criteria will show on the next page. 
  1. Sampling a book:  If you are not sure you want a book, please use this feature before borrowing.  Many books have a limited number of loans, once they are used the book will have to be repurchased.
    1. Click the “Read Sample” button next to the book you’re interested in sampling.
    2. Sample will automatically pop up. 
    3. When done with the sample, simply click the close button. 
  1. Borrowing a book:
    1. Locate a book you are interested in checking out.
    2. Click the “Borrow” button. 
    3. You may begin reading the book immediately.  No download required. 
    4. Bookmark your page before closing the book so you don’t lose your place.  The bookmark is located at the top of your book page. 
    5. When you come back to read, simply click on the “Shelf” button at the bottom of the screen.  All the books you have borrowed will show on your shelf and you can return to reading your book.  
  1. Place a book hold:
    1. If a book is not available for check out, there will be a “Place hold” button beside the book.  Click “Place hold” and it will automatically add you to the hold list.
    2. To get more information about the hold list, click on the “Wait List”. 
  1. Cancel a book hold:
    1. Click the “Shelf” tab on the bottom of your screen.
    2. In the top middle of your book shelf click the “Holds” button. 
    3. Click on the book hold you would like to cancel and follow the prompt.  
  1. Returning or Renewing a book:
    1. Books will automatically be pulled from your account when they have reached their due date, however you may return them early by clicking on the book cover, and selecting the “Return” arrow. 
    2. You may also renew a book 3 days before it is due.   Click the book cover, select “Renew” and follow prompt.
