One April 17th the sixth-grade from Art City Elementary were invited to participate in the Hershey Track meet, sponsored by Hershey, supported by Springville City and Springville High School.  The students have a choice of three events to participate in.  Sixth-grade does 100, 200, 400, 800, and a few brave souls do the 1600 Meter run.  The students may choose to do the standing long jump and the softball throw as one of their events. It is a fun day that the students have to meet students from other schools and have a little competition. This year the following sixth-grade recieved an award:  Kate Chatfield, 4th-place in the 100 Meter; Jaqueline Reyes 5th-place, 100 Meter; Savanah Clyde 5th-place 200 Meter; Conner Snapp 6th-place 200 Meter; Sanvanah Clyde 5th-place 400 Meter; Onikah Locklear 5th-place, 800 meter; Kyle Soter 5th-place, 800 meter; Austin Stewart 4th place 800 meter; Jacob Negus 5th place, softball throw; Mathew Bush 6th place softball throw; Caroline Elliott 6th place Long Jump. Congratulations.

Students who receive certificates are now invited to come back to a local meet.  Hershey Track is divided in age groups instead of grades; Springville City is hosting a local meet where the winners of the grades will compete in their age divisions. If you would like to have the opportunity to compete at the local level come to the meet on Monday May 19th at the Springville High school Track. Registration is at 3:30 and the meet starts at 4p.m. First and Second place winners are then qualified for a District Meet in Payson on June 18th at 4 p.m. If you place first or second you are qualified for the state meet in Harriman on June 28th at 10 a.m. If you place first you may be selected to go to an all-expense paid trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the North American Finals in August.
