This year’s Crystal Apple Award goes to Mrs. Mara Kunzler second-grade teacher at Art City Elementary presented by Craig Harvey and is sponsored by Horace Mann insurance; teachers nominate their peers for the award.
Mara Sandoval Kunzler grew up in Denver, Colorado. She is the youngest in her family with four older brothers. Her girl-hood dream was to be a school teacher. Her father taught school until she was in third-grade, then he became an administrator, so you could say she is following her father’s footsteps into education.
Mara attended Denver North High School, she graduated from Rick’s College (now BYUI) with an Associates’ degree, then transferred to Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She has taught at Art City for eight years.
Mara is married to Ryan Kunzler and is expecting twins in August (a boy and a girl).
Mara’s team has wonderful things to say about her, she is very organized, she is dedicated, she makes amazing Power Point presentations and lessons that she is always willing to share to make the “team” stronger, she is a team player and cares about the team, she loves to laugh and is always smiling.
