Mountain Man named Scott Grizzly Sorenson came to Art City Elementary fourth-grade students to talk about "Mountain Men and the History of the Fur Trade" a little about what it means to be a "Mountain Man" in the twenty-first century. He grew up in the Wasatch Mountains, but lives in Canada in the summers on Kipawa River. He learned about mountain men when he was in fourth-grade and decided he wanted to become one. We learn about mountain men as part of our social studies core. He came and talked to us about his life as a mountain man-he told us Tall Tales, showed us pictures of his cabin, let us touch furs, played music, showed us animal traps, and answered questions about mountain men. The students loved him! He comes on his own, but he has a book called "Dear Mr. Mountain Man" that has letters from students written to him.
